A REDEVELOPED medical centre is set to bring an injection of services and jobs to the rapidly growing Golden Beach area.
The $2.5 million expansion of the Golden Beach Medical Centre will create 15 primary and allied health-care jobs, as well as providing dozens of additional services for the Sunshine Coast.
Officially opened yesterday, the centre includes six additional consulting rooms, a new treatment and procedure room, a stand-alone pathology lab and collection centre, as well as a range of allied health services, including psychology, podiatry and diabetes clinics.
Centre director Dr Evan Jones said five doctors would join the centre.
"There is huge demand for health services on the Sunshine Coast and we really
believe this is a great addition to the primary health services available here," Dr Jones said.
"We are really about keeping people well in the community and offering a family-friendly approach to primary and allied health."
The centre provided more than 160,000 patient consultations and 500,000 individual service consultations in the past three years.
Dr Jones said he expected the number of people utilising the service to continue to grow.
"With the rapid expansion of Golden Beach and Caloundra there is a large demand for primary care services," he said.
"This expansion was about providing comprehensive and holistic care for patients in a convenient location.
"In other words, we wanted to become a one-stop shop in terms of care for patients."
